Hey all,
The waiting season…. that awkward stretch where it feels like life is moving at everyone else’s pace but yours? You’re just waiting for the new year, thinking back and reminiscing on the random goals you accomplished, the memories made, the hopes and dreams of the year and honestly… It’s not fun. Especially when you’re just in the waiting season, hoping, anticipating, needing God to move.
But remember, good things come to those who wait on the Lord. God is not in a hurry; why are we? I get it, it's like you are just waiting in a queue and can’t see the front of the line, like you’re waiting on a text message, but you don’t know when it’s coming. Remember: you are not missing out, you are being transformed. Isaiah 40:31 says, “But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary; they will walk and not be faint.”
Patience is having faith that God is working, even when you feel like you’re not. In doing so, you have to shift your perspective, stop thinking “What am I waiting for?” and start thinking “Good things are coming, and good things are already here”. Romans 8:28 says, “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” The good is being near God, and this season will bring you closer to him.
In your waiting season, I always recommend using this time to grow in a new aspect of your life, whether that’s taking up a new hobby, growing more with God or just anything. Try something brand new and see where you end up with it. Talk to God, tell him what’s on your heart, lay out your frustrations. He is always listening and ready to hear from you. Philippians 4:6 “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God."
Don’t forget to celebrate all the small wins. They are still progress - and evidence that God is working. Keep in mind your season is coming, sooner than you expect it.
Remember this: trust God through it all and keep showing up. Time spent waiting isn’t wasted; God is still moving, every step of the way.
With love,
Shola Jones xoxo
