Give me the heart of Mary of Bethany.

Give me the heart of Mary of Bethany.

Hi lovelies!

I’m Pana! It’s a joy to be writing this blog to you.

Today, I want to talk about something we all know and love - something that unites us all; something that moves the Father’s heart and ours too! And that, my friends, is worship!

By no means do I have any musical talent AT ALL, but I do love a good worship tune! Elevation Rhythm, Abbie Gamboa, Bethel Music, Upperroom, Elle Limbear - just a few of my faves!

But do you know worship isn’t just about singing?

It is also a lifestyle, a choosing to break your alabaster every single day, a continuous response to the cross, an undignified heart posture. So let me ask you this- what does worship mean to you? I’ll go first: worship for me is beholding and reacting. Beholding his total glory, beauty, grace, splendour, all that He is and all he has done and then reacting to what you’ve beheld. You will find that the only reasonable and acceptable reaction is worship. It’s sacrificing, and it’s surrendering all that you are when you behold all that HE is.

You know, this brings me back to a story in the Bible, ‘The Anointing at Bethany.’ Ugh, I love this story!! If you’re not familiar with the story, let me give you a quick rundown:  a woman heard about Jesus and spent her life savings on a very expensive Alabaster jar of perfume, she went to where Jesus was, and she wept and broke the Alabaster at his feet and anointed them.

What I adore about this story is the fact that she beheld & responded. Mary caught a glimpse of his worthiness and holiness, and she simply reacted. She reacted by repositioning the lovers of her heart. Pouring out what she once found worthy to the very definition of it!

How much more can we respond to the glory of the cross in addition to Him!

He is worthy because of who He is and what He’s done. That’s it. And that should be enough to say in the words of Brandon Lake, “Come on my soul, don’t you get shy on me, lift up your song!.

A prayer:

Precious Lord,

Let us live a life of beholding and reacting. Will You show us Your glory, may we be a place of hunger and thirst for You. Make my heart a dwelling place for you, like at Bethany. Where Mary poured out her life onto your feet, because of her hunger. She was hungry to empty herself. We want to do the same. We love you, and we worship you Jesus

Amen.

Hopefully, speak soon!!

Pana xoxo
