New year, same God

New year, same God

New year, SAME God. Let’s step into 2025 with real intention. This time of year always gets a little wild; new goals, new plans, new everything. But what about God? He’s been here, faithful as ever. Are we showing up for Him the same way?

January is the month of new beginnings, but let’s kick it off right by keeping Jesus at the centre. For me heading into 2025, I’m proclaiming abundance! Abundance in faith, growth, and recognising blessings! But what is 2025 for you? Take a moment, breathe, and think about it. Let’s talk about how to make this the year you walk in purpose.

Step 1: Build a Morning Routine That Hits Different
Let’s be honest, how you start your day always sets the vibe. Wake up late, scrolling on your phone, and the day’s already off to a messy start. I’m guilty of it too! Nothing pulls me in faster than a scroll on social media. But this year? We’re seeking God first, we know He is better.

Lately, I’ve been starting my mornings with a random verse of the day, and let me tell you, the vibes have been TOO good. This morning, Jeremiah 17:7 popped up: “But blessed are those who trust in the Lord and have made the Lord their hope and confidence.” Whew. That verse got me together real quick.
I also love kicking things off with worship. Right now I’m obsessed with Madison Ryann Ward, Limoblaze, Maverick City Music, Bridge Music, Annatoria, Sondae and so many more. If you haven’t yet, check out my playlist on Spotify or Apple Music. Trust me, it’s a whole experience! Not into music? Podcasts are a vibe too! I’m currently loving Saved Not Soft by Emy Moore, Girls Gone Bible by Angela Halili and Arielle Reitsma, and In Totally by Megan Ashley (I obviously can’t forget Arun Church Talks either!). And don’t sleep on YouTube sermons either, Pastor Stephanie Ike-Okafor and Pastor Michael Phillips ALWAYS deliver gems.

And don’t forget to pray! To say, “Thank you, Jesus, for waking me up and getting me through another day,” is such a powerful way to centre yourself. Every day is a blessing, so start it with gratitude.

Step 2: Goals That Actually Stick
New year, new goals… Let’s talk about it. I love setting goals (and crossing them off, let’s be real), but this year, I’m focusing on aligning my plans with God’s. It’s cute to have a to-do list, but what’s on His to-do list for you?

Here’s how I’m approaching goals this year:

  • Pray First: Ask God what His vision for your life looks like. Trust me, His plans hit different when you actually listen.
  • Be Realistic: Your goals don’t need to be massive to be meaningful. It’s okay to start small! Progress is progress.
  • Write It Down: I’m telling you, there’s power in writing your goals. Plus, you can then break them into steps and ACUTALLY get things done.
  • Make It Visual: I love a good intentional and biblical vision board. Proverbs 29:18 says, “Where there is no vision, the people perish.” So, yeah, we’re not perishing over here. I love having a physical reminder of the future I’m working toward one that aligns with God’s purpose for me.

Step 3: Get in Your Bible Bag
Okay, I won’t even lie, this one’s a work in progress for me. I started a Read the Bible in a Year plan and, um… let’s just say it’s not looking good, but we move! Instead of stressing about finishing it, I’ve been focusing on finding sections of scripture or particular verses and diving into them, really meditating
The Bible is where the gems are! Real wisdom, strength, and truth. If reading the whole thing feels like too much, find a plan that works for you. Shorter devotionals? Perfect. A verse a day? Go for it. The point is to start somewhere and let the Word guide you.
And can we talk about the importance of leaving the our lukewarm era behind? We’re not doing half-in, half-out with God anymore. 2025 is the year of growth, so let’s commit to learning and living the Word.

Final Thoughts
The new year is all about fresh starts, but the God we serve is the same yesterday, today, and forever. So, as you set your goals and plan your year, remember to keep Him at the centre. Trust His timing, His vision, and His plan for you.
What are you claiming for 2025? Drop it in the comments or send a message to @_blestmagazine, tell your friends or just write it down and keep it between you and God. Either way, let’s make this the year of purpose, intention, and abundance.

Cheers to 2025, ONLY blessings on blessings this year!
